Mistaken Month?

 Mistaken Month?

It is not supposed to be the month of March, but Dear Hearts, the wind could just maybe have taken a wrong turn at the end of the month of November ‘cause it has blown a small gale today! The hens turned their fluffy butts to the west and took off to the east lots to do their grazing. The little rug on the deck turned upside down to roll over on itself since the wind was blowing from the west to the east—the lay of the land, so to speak. Anyway, the propeller on the first plane that Sterling gave me had come off and lay on the ground. When replaced on the spinner, it took off at high speed. Wish it would scare the doves off when the feed is put out for the hens, but maybe the fact that it does not frighten the hens lets the doves know that it is not to be feared. Sigh.

Talked to Sharon Dickerson today. She sounds happy and pretty busy trying to find all her clothes and things she had packed up. The only thing that absolutely did not show up were all her underclothes. Jimmy told her he found them in the dryer. Guess she decided to wash them all before packing them. Maybe he will mail them to her. Meanwhile, she and David went to Walmart. Sounds as if going to the mailbox is a nice little walk. Good exercise in my estimation, but then, this ol’ gal is only a matter of a few feet from the road and my own mailbox. It is so much easier than trying to get in the truck to go to the mailbox on Texas Street. Too old and wobbly to do that every day.

Speaking of wobbly, Sterling says that the gabapentin he takes for pain from his shingles makes him terribly wobbly. That was the reason this ol’ gal stopped taking the stuff. Whether or not it did anything for the pain was secondary to the fact that standing up or walking straight made me feel as if a pint of liquor might have been consumed. Figured any accident on the highway would be considered as driving under the influence. Certainly hope that Sterling’s doctor takes that into consideration. All of us old people need to be concerned about that sort of thing. Wish he could take something else that would deal with the pain without those side effects.

The FedEx guy came today with a couple of packages. Jenn sent me some cream that is supposed to help with the muscle pain—and it does. Maybe that is the sort of thing that Sterling needs. The package also contained some bubble wrap. That stuff is just so much fun! Entertainment! The dogs seem to think the old woman has lost it!

Guess Monday will be the day to go get feed. Have not accomplished much except doing laundry. Had planned to mop the floors. Oh well. The girls had a head of cabbage to eat and have already managed to make it disappear! They don’t stop until nothing is left except a tiny little cob thing in the middle. Busy hens! They can wipe out the feed nearly as quickly!

Thinking last night about what was written on my blog about Satan being in charge of the horrors of this world. To be clear, we know that God makes the final decisions, but He allows Satan to rule this world for the time being. We are already marked as forgiven—especially since we ask for that forgiveness every day. But that does not mean that we are unaffected by what is around us. We see and feel the same as anyone else. But we have hope that belongs to those who depend on Christ’s sacrifice. We have His promises. In time, the Way will be clear and with us every day. We can ask for peace of mind—the peace that He gives us. Let us pray for this world that it can be changed and that those in it will find Him.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
