Laziness Strikes Again!
Other than the usual filling of water bowls, gathering of
eggs, and feeding of dogs, the only exercise today has been the mopping of the
kitchen and living room. Just too lazy to want to do laundry or any other
occupation connected with housekeeping! Maybe another day next week will see
all the usual shtuff getting done.
Toasted some Dave’s Killer Bread for toasted pimento cheese
sandwiches. Thought there for a minute that the toaster had bitten the dust,
but just had not pushed the lever down far enough. We got that toaster when we
got married. It has every right to be a bit fussy about working right off the
bat. They simply do not make things like that any longer. Sterling mentioned
lately something about using an air fryer. Have heard of them and felt it was
probably a handy item, but not sure it would be worth messing with when my diet
is so simple. Eating this late in the afternoon is probably one of the worst
things to do, but don’t plan on an early night anyway. Thompson had me up off
and on last night, so a nap today is probably one good reason for staying awake
longer than usual. But it really was a good nap!
Reading another book based on the first spy rings developed
after WWI. It is just amazing to me that some women became spies because no one
really thought women would be capable of finding out things and hiding the
information. Reading the American history articles posted by Tara Ross on FB
has assured me that the women in the Revolutionary War were prime candidates
for getting information to our forefathers. In my own family, one of the women
who was hiding wounded Confederate soldiers near her home in Traskwood,
Arkansas, rode to get bandages and medicine in the nearest city. Stopped on the
way back, she pleaded with the soldiers (Yankees) to let her get back so she
could feed her baby since her breasts were swollen so big with milk. Her excuse
for going was to get food for her family that they had not been able to grow. Somehow,
they let her leave, and she was able to unburden those heavy breasts of
medicines and bandages. Sneaky ol’ girl.
Expecting Sterling and Jacqui tomorrow if all goes well.
They spend the night at a place in Seymour, TX that has a café near the “cabin”
where they stay. Guess the town has at least that one thing to recommend it.
Anyway, look forward to seeing them.
The wind has blown today until it has been about enough to
make a person yell and stomp. Guess we can be happy that the temperatures were
not low enough to frost everything. Think Sunday night the low is expected to
be 30. Oh well.
Saw that some of the Hamas fighters had surrendered. It
seems that Israel has been able to target some of the Hamas leaders that were
keeping everything so horrible. Maybe the threat of flooding the tunnels made some
progress among the soldiers as well. That would be a scary thought. Still have
not heard of any more hostages having been released, however. But having read a
strange claim that all the supplies brought into Gaza have gone to the tunnels
of Hamas, it seemed not so unusual that some of the Palestinians are very angry
at Hamas for taking whatever was brought into Gaza. Simply can’t imagine over
two million people being pushed into the southern edge of Gaza!
We know that all of the things we see happening around us
will affect us in one manner or another, but we also know that God above will
protect us and lead us to Him. One minister today spoke about the fact that God
pursues us and our children. He wants us for Himself. That is a very
comforting thought.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
