Little Jobs.
After letting the hens out this morning, went back and
cleaned out the middle coop. Spread diatomaceous earth under their roost and
called it done. Had been keeping hay under them, too, but about ran out of hay.
Could have raked up enough to put in there, but decided the DE would be enough
for now. Looks as if we might—just might—get some rain on Friday. Wouldn’t that
be something! And Sutherlands has all their trees on sale for 75% off! Not that
we will ever get enough rain to keep them alive. Yes, someone has an attitude.
Went to try in the frames of the new denture. Nope. It was
not even close to right. Go figure. But maybe the new impression will work next
time. It will be some time in January before that happens. Oh well. It’s not
like the old woman is toothless yet. The nurse at Family Dentistry said that,
unlike Affordable Dentures, they can’t even begin to make dentures because they
can’t depend on the lab here. Sad.
Sitting here eating some kind of noodles that have extra
spicey bits in them. May be made with rabbit as far as the ingredients are
concerned, but it will definitely be a “hot” rabbit. The mushrooms are
identifiable, at least. Had some kind of crab things earlier. Have just been
wanting Asian foods for some reason. Need to look up a recipe using feta cheese
so that can be used up before it goes south. Had been using it in salads, but
haven’t made a salad in the past few days.
My toaster has about turned up its toes. It works if the
handle is held down until the toasting needs to stop, but otherwise it just
sits there. Guess it has done a fairly good job considering that we got it for
a wedding present. Many a marriage does not make it that long.
The Leos family across the road has been under the weather
with some kind of flu-like stuff. Noticed a few minutes ago that the boy, AJ, was
outside running around without a jacket. Maybe he is feeling better. Hope they
all get back on their feet soon. No fun being puny!
Called Jacqui today to ask if Sterling found the pain
patches to be of any help. They have some high percentage of Lidocaine in them
for pain. His shingles have made it nearly impossible for him to wear a shirt.
It really felt strange to see him drive up and get out of the truck bare bodied
from the waist up. These pain patches were given to me by a man who got them
from the VA. He had all kinds of pain, but they did not really help him much
since his pain was from his bones. Sterling thinks that these things will help
him be able to wear a shirt to Sunday services.
Have not finished Max Lucado’s Facing Your Giants
yet, but have had several good laughs. He has to be a Texan! Should finish this
one tonight and start on one of the other books that Sterling brought. He is
enjoying the one found in Mother’s library called Explore the Book by J.
Sidlow Baxter. It is the sort that will take re-reading several times—a lot
like the Bible itself.
Got Sylvia to the vet’s office today and her toenails are
trimmed, but had to take Thompson so she would get in the truck and into the
building. Next time will try to leave Thompson IN the truck. He would have had
hurt feelings if she got to go in the truck and he did not. One has to consider
a dog’s feelings, you know. Just pick up a leash around here and Katie Bar the
Door!
Let’s be grateful that all the mess of this world is not
the final and total situation. God does things HIS way and in HIS time. We will
learn to be patient or be resurrected to see the outcome someday in the future.
Let us rejoice in His love!
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
