Losing My Mind!!
This morning when checking out the mess made in the middle
coop, it was obvious that the feeder needed to be dumped, cleaned, dried, and
restocked with good feed to put back under the shelf for the hens. Brought that
feeder inside, washed it thoroughly and dried it. However, sometime in the
intervening hour between intending to put it back in the coop and vacuuming the
living room, the old woman forgot where she put the feeder. Not only has the
feeder gone missing, so has my mind!! Looked in both coops plus the third
section. Looked in the workshop, the kitchen, the bathroom, the living room,
and even in the bedroom. HOW can one feeder just disappear? The dogs have been
absolutely no help at all. They look at the old woman as she goes wandering
around the yard, around the house, and even out to the front yard without
having any iota of concern about whether or not she might have lost her mind.
Ok. At least it was not my phone this time and maybe it will show up since it
is not likely to have grown legs and walked away.
SO very thankful for the rain! The hens seemed just
ecstatic! They ran out to the east lot to search for green stuff and came back
fairly stuffed. Still gave them a head of cabbage, but they only ate a small
amount of it. They seem to be very happy with the temperature and the wet dirt.
Stripped the sheets off my bed and washed them. Put my
favorite green sheets on instead and changed the top sheet and little thin
blanket that is over the quilt to prevent Sylvia from getting it dirty. She
sleeps on the bottom of the bed and rolls around down there as if she were the
happiest critter in town. Dogs seem to sleep quite a bit, but they also watch or
listen for every sound or movement. It must take a bunch of energy to keep up
with all the goings on in the neighborhood.
Clint called yesterday to ask a favor and made me laugh.
But he ended up putting his car under my two-car carport. The weather forecast was
for severe weather. That usually means hail and high winds. We got some pretty
stout winds, but if it hailed, the dogs did not mention it to me.
Got the covers on two of the dog beds washed and dried
today, but now one of the mattresses (foam) needs to dry. It just looked yucky,
so it got sprayed down. It’s drying on top of the washer after being left out
to dry on the deck. Thompson has to have something soft under his old bones.
Sylvia is only two years younger, but she likes soft places, too. Understand
completely how they feel.
Thought a hen was lost last night. Could not find her
anywhere, so thought she was just a lost cause. She was at the east gate waiting
to be let in this morning. Apparently, she roosted on the front porch on my
bench (splats under her roosting spot proved it). Had tried to use my
flashlight to look around, but it just could not get through the darkness.
Nothing like daylight to change a viewpoint!
Still just happy about the rain even if it was less than
two inches. God has blessed us with so much! Autumn is welcome around here.
Maybe we will have some more rain in this month.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
