Different Day, Different Thoughts.
Listening to music—maybe Bob Segar or someone like that.
One of Lewis’ CDs left in the bookcase. The one that said Alan Jackson seemed
to have only one song on it—Memories of Us. Still have some Enya CDs in there.
Have not listened to music in quite some time. The words are not usually very
clear to my ears unless it is a familiar song. The beat is ok, however. Have
never liked what is called Honky Tonk songs. This particular type of country
music has a good beat—like a story with a beat. Just thought it might make my
mind take a different direction today.
Earlier went to United Pharmacy to pick up some pills. The
pharmacist wanted to know if the vaccines were needed today, but it just did
not seem like a good day for that. Maybe next week. They did have a way to
reduce the cost since it had come up as $16 on my phone. The pharmacist used a
card, and it was only $14. Pays to ask!
Have managed to exercise a bit this morning—mopping is exercise,
right? Got the back bedroom mopped and the AC plugged in for Friday night when
Lance gets here. Probably will need to go to Sutherlands for 2x4s and a few
other things, but not sure that will get done today. Need to make a different
roost for the pullets in the middle coop. They are fussing at each other over
the one they are using. The dowel rod behind it just does not suit them. But
really prefer to keep the 2x4 because it is located directly over where they
mess. Easy to clean up that way in the DE. One of them fell off in all the fussing
yesterday evening and made an absolute cloud of dust in the coop! Accchooo! Oh
well. That stuff is good for killing bugs and keeping down any odors.
Not too sure listening to his music has been such a good
idea. He loved it and now it almost makes me cry. Days like this make me miss
Lewis so very much. No one can understand unless the person has been thoroughly
loved for most of their life by a person who chose to love them. Nearly 44
years and so many things that brought us together to deal with all the things
life can throw at anyone. We knew we had the best, but it is hard to go on knowing
that one of us has to let the other go. God did not give us a choice for this
life.
Guess two more rooms need to be mopped and the throw rugs
vacuumed (the ones that are taped to the floor). Have most of the day’s work
lined up to get done, but still have to make myself paint those doors on the
workshop. Painting is NOT one of my favorite things to do. Oh well. It’s not
like it will do itself! Well, lovely! Just lovely! The paint won’t stir. Guess
that bucket will go in the bin! Have two cans of spray paint, but seriously don’t
believe that would be enough to get it done. Oh well. It’s hot outside anyway.
Had a lamb chop and a salad for lunch. Wish lamb were not
so terribly expensive, but it really is not much more so than beef. Just have
to get out some liver in the next couple of days to cook up for Thompson. Even
chicken livers are good for critters and for old folks, but definitely will not
make any this Friday before the kids get here. The two oldest children had no
idea how good liver and onions were—neither would touch the stuff years ago—or
even now! Silly kids.
Just downloaded the rest of the Albert and Rex mysteries by
Steve Higgs. Looking forward to more good giggles! Right now, good laughs are
especially appreciated around here. Maybe by next week the old woman will feel
like doing something like walking around the fence line to see if the grass is
dead or living. Still just praying for rain. Watching more trees die in this
city just makes me sad. So much sadness is floating on the news no matter where
we look. May God give us the peace of mind to find joy in His love.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
