Fine Eating!

 Fine Eating!

So, my doctor wants me to quit Dr Pepper and the like and eat good, solid protein stuff like meat, butter, cheese, etc. Well, that is what the old woman should have been doing all along. She did tell me to use heavy cream instead of half and half. Who’d a thought it? Anyway, life goes on and maybe soon the world will turn. At least knowing what is going on makes me feel as if control is in my hands/head. And love sitting here having one of my favorite salads that includes little white mushrooms, broccoli, red bell pepper, tomato, English cucumber, cheese, and avocado dressing! Yummy!

Aldi’s had butter on for considerably less than $4 a pound, so my freezer is now stocked. It really seems so strange to me that the “good” stores that have baggers and curbside service cannot price things where people can afford to eat. But maybe they pay those baggers a living wage? Have mentioned before maybe that the “ready meals” in United used to be reasonable. Now a meal at IHOP is cheaper than one of the ready meals prepared for two people.

Finished the last of the Steve Higgs books with an old retired policeman and his dog Rex who failed the police dog test. His books make me sorry that these folks are not real-life people. The description of how the old man had to get around on buses, taxis, and a few trains made me realize that travel over there is a bit iffy. Leaves on the tracks was one of the reasons given to us while we were on our way to London by train. The carriages were double booked because the first train was unable to travel with “leaves on the tracks!” Lord help us! In Texas it would be a cow or an armadillo party!

For some strange reason, the Titanic has been on my mind. Think something about Molly Brown being killed after she revealed all the problems on the ship might be why it has come to mind. Telling the truth can get a person killed. Pretty sad—then and now.

Looking forward to seeing my son and daughter this weekend. They may be surprised to see the new fence across the street at the hospital. Sent a picture, but seeing it up close is pretty amazing. Think the entrance ramp off of Kemp is about to be poured this week since the iron bars are all in place.

Brought home three heads of cabbage from Aldi’s. One is nearly gone already!! Those hens want some green stuff! If there were any grass to gather up for them, it would be a way to keep them in the yard at least. A battery-powered mower does not make oil splats on the grass in the grass catcher, so the grass is about as clean as it is going to get without any rain. May have to teach the dogs to herd chickens and take them out to graze on Patty’s lower acreage. You can almost bet that Roxie would love to herd hens!

Still praying for rain. So sorry for the folks that are being flooded, but danged if we wouldn’t give a big ten-gallon hat for a boat load of that water! Guess we still have some hurricanes somewhere around that are causing rain and such in the Atlantic, but so far it doesn’t seem to be helping out the middle part of the U.S. May God bless us soon.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
