Totally Lazy Day!

 Totally Lazy Day!

Woke up at 1:26 this morning because Thompson wanted me to know that Sylvia was sick on the kitchen floor again. Dadnabit! Got that cleaned up and washed up. Went back to bed and woke up to a very wet world outside. Decided to allow the chicks to just roam around with the big hens. They don’t eat with them, but they are not being picked on either. Only one has gotten out of the yard so far, so that is a good thing. And no hawks have attacked at this point. Maybe all 25 will survive.

Mary Rhoads came today to pick up eggs and bring me some plums. Plum tasty little things! Told her that if the lady who has the tree wants to dispose of the ones on the ground, we can dump them in my back yard for the chicks. They fought over the seeds and then had two bruised apricots to play tug of war over. The big hens started it, but the little chicks got in on the game. Funny critters!

Think maybe one of the neighbors is back across the street. He left out in the car today and just came back. Sandy told me where they were going, but did not say when they would be back. Guess it does not matter much as long as they get where they’re going safely.

Sitting here tossing treats in the air for the dogs to catch. Not sure which of us enjoys this more. They like playing catch and getting the treat. But watching them catch it makes me happy. Dogs are great companions and great entertainment. Thompson has indicated that he has had enough, thank you very much. He is now in the recliner doing his thing.

My son Lance and his wife Tracy are celebrating their 27th anniversary today, so texted him and called her. She said Rachel had to take her brother to get his wisdom teeth taken out today. Haven’t talked to either Rachel or her sibling yet, but wondering if chicken noodle soup will be on the menu tonight. Not a bad thing to have to eat when the mouth is numb.

Did not get even one thing done about the workshop door today. It was too wet early on and pretty hot later. The temperature gauge out front says 91 degrees at the moment. Know the real heat is just around the corner. Sigh. Jenn said that they had an ozone warning in the DFW area. She had never seen one of those before. Don’t think it is from the Canadian smoke, but whatever it is, they suggested not being outside and not driving if possible.

Just as dumb as dirt this evening. Not very interested in doing anything or even much interested in reading. Think my body is telling me something? Sterling said he is definitely getting messages from his old bones. He is just three years ahead of me, but he has worked hard all these years and has had multiple physical problems. Told him he better take care of himself since we have a lot of stuff to catch up on. He is the only one alive now that would remember all the things we did and the people we knew. Our memories are not quite the same, but close enough. Only a sibling can share certain things with you. God bless the families that have more than one child.

Let’s pray for those that are being inundated by this horrible smoke and the inconveniences caused by it. Planes can’t take off and lots of places are dangerous just for breathing. May God give Canada what it needs to put out the fires and give us the wind or whatever it takes to clean the air.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
