Not So Small Requests.
A lady from England who we have “met” here online at FB,
Helen Shalders, is having a cornea transplant tomorrow. Please pray for her
that the surgery will be successful, that vision will be restored, and that
healing will be swift and basically pain free. Being able to see, smell, feel,
and hear are some of the greatest wonders in the world.
This evening we are in a severe weather watch with possible
high winds (60 mph), hail (baseball size), and tornadoes in the forecast. Such
fun! NOT! My friend Connie called me to tell me where she could be found if her
place over on Wyoming is hit. She and her kitties have a place inside her apartment
that she feels is relatively safe. Jennifer sent a message to be sure that yours
truly was well aware of the weather. Anyway, talked to my neighbor and found
the key to her basement on the chance that it feels necessary to take the dogs
down there. Honestly don’t feel that taking them anywhere on the end of a leash
is going to work, but certainly am not going to go without them.
Made more chicken salad out of the leftover rotisserie
chicken from Sam’s. Had more celery than normal as it was about to go bad, so
this is almost as much celery salad as chicken salad. It’s still pretty tasty—especially
on a croissant.
Saw that Lance and Tracy’s neighbor friends are moving to
Thelma, Texas, down south of San Antonio. They had a water well dug today and
got good water. Now they will build a “Barndiminum” out there. The community
only has about 45 folks living in the area, and a train track runs through next
to the highway. Sounds good to me. No city rules to prevent having a few
chickens and any other animals they might want. No neighbors that might be
ornery enough to bother them, either! Of course, Lewis’ cousin Gerald built out
in the far corner of the Bonita community and ended up with one of those noisy
dirt bike places close to his fence. That had to be disgusting with the trash
and noise. Life is like that, but maybe it was mostly on the weekends.
Have not accomplished much today. Last night was a bit
hard, but finally slept and felt better this morning. Getting old is definitely
not for sissies!
Really don’t know much except that we are blessed that the
summer heat is not quite here yet. Dread that stuff. At least the AC units will
keep an old woman from totally melting. And the roses are still blooming even
though the irises have gone to glory. The red, orange, and pink poppies are
still blooming along with the blue bachelor buttons and blue bonnets. The red
rose that Jerry took to his place from here is looking good, too. Just green
grass looks good to me, however. It makes me hopeful.
Rest in the reassurance that God has blessed us. You are
loved.
