Scary Books.

 Scary Books.

Sometimes books can be even more scary than scary movies. At least this time a book had me tied up in knots before it was finished. The Hills Be Shaken by Michael Stewart had me holding my breath and blowing away the willies! It was based on some scenarios where engineers could see what was likely happening to cause major disruptions in lakes and bridges. An entire lake lowering (drainage) structure was blown up to allow the lake to quickly flood an area to tear up all the earth down to bedrock for umpteen miles, clearing a strip of land almost a mile wide of anything living or dead. It is not an impossible scenario which is what makes it so scary. Especially since we know that we are being invaded by terrorists currently coming into the country from our southern border. Anyway, the book was based on the scripture from Isaiah 54: The mountains may fall, and the hills be shaken, but God’s love will stand. Not sure whether or not to recommend the book if you tend to be a worry wart.

Thompson just led me to the fridge and pointed his nose at its door. Don’t tell me that these critters can’t teach us tricks!! Gave both dogs some chicken on top of their kibble. Can hear the crunch of kibble from my office. Doesn’t take long to eat a cup of chicken meat if one is a dog!

Early this morning, about 2:30 or so, the fog was so heavy that the fence was covered up near the house. Lance said it was pretty foggy down their way in Kennedale, too. But Jenn and Gary’s plane got out of DFW and to W. VA ok. Sitting here wondering how much soda they needed before they got there. They had a package of those Texas Trash spicy pecans with them—probably in Jenn’s handbag.

Have not heard from Judie Brunson today, so am hoping that her dental surgery went ok and that she is just at home resting. Always dread any kind of dental work!

Have read some more in the study by Lehman Straus about Revelation. He is pretty heavy on telling folks that this is their only chance to be saved, but when we consider that we have one life to live, it makes sense to turn to the Creator of all life before our time runs out. The sooner the better in my opinion. But some of us were so blessed to have parents to talk to us about God from our first days of understanding. God knows HE can talk to anyone who does not have a parent like that. HE can make changes and pursue those He will call. That is pretty reassuring in my estimation. God can heal the minds of those who have obviously lost contact with reality and bring them to Himself. A man came to stand on my front porch shortly after Hanan killed himself. He stood there and told me that God did not condemn Hanan for taking his own life because his mind was sick and he could not be responsible. Then he told me that he had tried to kill himself and found out that God still loved him when he was brought back to life. That was a pretty strange experience to have that man tell me that, but it probably helped him to say what he needed to say. And it did not hurt me to listen.

The dogs have been barking almost all day off and on. Clint and Sandy have several men over at their place loading up all the stuff from their house and from the big storage container out behind their house. Their trucks (the pickups) have been going up and down the road along with the normal traffic. Patty said her dogs may have sore throats from barking all day! Too bad they can’t just bark once for the UPS truck and twice for the mailman!

Let us be grateful for the blessings we have in this life. We look around and see our own freedom and then wonder why the world is so warped with anguish. But we know that Satan is still ruling this world until Christ returns as King of Kings. Let Him come soon!

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
