Tamales!

 Tamales!

Dinn-upper is tamales—out of a can. Yes, the kind we got from Rodriquez were MUCH better, but they closed down the business. The dogs just had their supper, too. Turkey, pumpkin, and kibble was apparently “acceptable.” Thompson did not eat his food this morning, but maybe he got hungry.

Looks like we MIGHT get some new neighbors from Childress—a pair of grandparents raising their grands. Anyway, look forward to having some good neighbors. Clint promised that they are believers. That makes a difference. And they like chickens.

Gathering lots of eggs for my children now. The hens are doing a good job. Looks like it is going to be necessary to go get some more lay mash (crumble) on Monday. Might have to put it in the back seat in case of rain, but we will see how things go. It is very expensive to feed these girls, but they do such a good job of giving us those pretty eggs with golden yolks. No one has said lately what eggs cost in the store, but if it is anything like the cost of feed, you can bet it is expensive.

Only got two floors mopped today. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day for doing something that requires energy. Some days it just hurts to move around and this is one of those days. Old Arthur Itis is an ornery fellow! Patty suggested wearing the back brace to do this type of work. That might actually work!

The dogs have had their exercise today what with running up and down the fence, digging a nice hole, and barking at the new folks around here. Wish my waistline could lose as much as theirs do just with “barking.” Of course, the digging holes and running up and down the fence probably do more for keeping the weight off.

Don’t really know diddly squat, as usual. Know that the weeds in the side lot are edible—but not sure we would find any at United Supermarkets. Ahem. Furry little weeds that taste—supposedly—like parsley. Guess if the world goes to heck in a handbasket, we might find it quite tasty.

You all remember to be grateful for the many blessings that God has given us. We are still relatively free and safe from so much of the stuff going on around us. Let us be aware and pray always for God’s protection on our families and our nation.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
