Sundown’s Arrival.
Have you noticed that after they mess with our clocks that
the sundown comes much earlier? Honestly! The fact that it might be somewhat
overcast is one concern, but the clock itself reminds me that it is almost time
to go out and close up the chicken coops. And then there are these two dogs
that have their own internal clocks for meals. Two days in a row, Thompson
refused to eat. Today he ate because he was hand fed. Then he finally got up
and cleaned his bowl. Go figure! Tomorrow will require defrosted chicken from
the freezer to feed them. After that, there is a turkey that will find itself
baking in the oven. Dread deboning that creature and filling up the Ziplock
bags! Oh well. It should last a good long while if they eat it well.
Have felt pretty decent today despite the sore arm. It
worried me that a headache went to bed with me last night, but all was well
this morning. Guess this shingles vaccine will not toss me on my keester after
all. A few months from now, will get the other shot. Anything is better than
getting the shingles like Sterling has had. He has really suffered. Now to get
Jennifer and her family to get this done! And the same for Lance and his
family!
Reading through the series of Blue Moon books by Steve
Higgs. These are about his efforts to debunk any supernatural stuff that people
believe in. The man with the fairies caused by a glittering wind chime amused
me—especially after the man had the investigator put the windchime back so that
the “fairies” could continue to visit the homeowner.
Haven’t accomplished anything other than getting some
laundry done, folded, and put away. All things may end, but laundry is never one
of them. Maybe tomorrow the vacuum will be employed.
The showers/sprinkles we got today managed to help track
inside a certain amount of mud and shtuff. Eight dog feet and two size seven
and a half old woman shoes did a pretty good job. Guess a couple of small rugs
are going to have to be purchased soon. Need one in the bathroom to prevent
falls. Stepped out on the linoleum and nearly did the splits the other day. It
made me remember when Lewis walked down the hall and “found” a hairball
compliments of our big ol’ cat. Poor Lewis really DID the splits! Pulled a
muscle in his back and in his leg in the groin. Ouch. Not funny. Anyway, will
get a fairly large rug for the bathroom and a smaller one for inside the
kitchen door. One that Roger and Susan gave me finally got almost hairless or
rugless, so that one has to be replaced.
Wondering if the hens are going to be less actively laying
eggs as it begins to get colder. They laid seven eggs today, so we will see how
the next few days go. Chickens need sunlight to get the hormones going good.
That is probably true of most of us, but we old folks don’t mind sitting around
reading or fiddling around otherwise. Just want to be sure to have enough eggs
for my kids to share.
Let us be grateful for all blessings and keep God’s people
in our prayers. May Israel be a reflection of God’s might and His love.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
