Planning Ahead.

 Planning Ahead.

Sterling reminded me that a week from today, Jacqui goes in for carpal tunnel surgery along with having the joints rebuilt on her right hand. His doctor sent him to the pharmacy for some kind of ointment that has to be put on with a cotton swab. He gets Jacqui up to dob him up after he gets out of the shower. It might be a little bit earlier than she wants to get up, but he needs to get over the worst part of this shingles mess so he can take care of her starting next week.

We got to talking about some of the things we did as kids. Mom had to make me learn to climb down by myself after climbing on top of the swing set. She finally told me that if she had to come back outside to get me down ONE MORE TIME, that she was just going to leave me up there until Daddy got home. Don’t know how long it took me to learn to climb down, but Daddy did not have to get me down! We climbed every tree in Petrolia that wasn’t fenced in at least once. Crazy kids. And yes, Roger Thonton was in those trees with us. Think Jim Simmons may have climbed a few, but we had “wars” out in the pasture across from our houses back then. The Johnson grass was way over our heads, so we had forts in there! Lots of fun!

Asked Sterling how in the world Daddy ever got the hole dug in that clay in order to put an oil field tank down in the ground for a cellar. Seems he used a pick and spade point to dig as far as he could, and then he ran that hole full of water each night before he was able to dig down another three inches. Three inches at a time! That took a lot of work and a lot of patience. And we spent several hours altogether in that hole over a lifetime of hiding from the tornadoes. In Texas—well, in a lot of places—a cellar seems pretty essential.

My backdoor neighbor just came to my front door and asked for help. She wanted me to take her to the store to get some dog food and some food for her. Since the old woman has had a muscle relaxer and a beer with supper, it did not sound like a good idea to drive anywhere. So, she got a sack of expensive Purina One dog food, several cans and cartons of food from my pantry, and an offer of help on another day in the future. She needed her ATM card activated, so we did that first. She needs some minutes on her phone, but would have to go to Walmart for that. Maybe. It has been too long ago that we did that sort of thing. Will have to see if that can still be done.

You know, a person does not realize how blessed he or she is until running into a situation like this. Wonder what would happen if none of my friends or family were around to help me. Looking at Tunisa and what they are doing to any illegal immigrants they find in their country. They take them out into the Sahara Desert and just leave them. No water, no food. If no one finds them, they die. That nation will someday have to answer for their attitude. NOT that the U.S. has a good attitude. The immigrants coming into our country right now are still treated better than being dumped in the wilderness without anything. We may have a bad attitude about being invaded, but so far no one has suggested dumping illegals into the desert. No matter what our attitude, we still give help as needed—if for no other reason than because we have been SO blessed.

A police officer—chief of police or some such—said that the officials of that state (Illinois) wanted to make police officers out of the illegal aliens—before they ever became citizens of the U.S. How could they possibly swear to uphold our constitution or state laws if they know nothing about those laws? Sounds as if someone just does not want to pay for real police officers.

Tomorrow will see me reading and staying away from the computer unless it is just to check my mail and post the blog. Sometimes the world is too much with us.

Let us pray for rain—or whatever the land and its creatures need. Let us pray for families to show love to each other—and peace of mind for those whose families are already fractured. Let us remember those who mourn and those who want children and cannot give birth. God knows those especially who need His healing touch. The least we can do is ask for His blessings on this world. Meanwhile, may we look forward to the coming of His kingdom. May Jesus Christ return soon!

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
