Visiting with Son.
Woke up early when a text message said that Lance was in
Henrietta already. Got up and brushed my teeth and forgot to use mouthwash. Oh
well. We went to IHOP and ate breakfast. They had some kind of crepe things
with scrambled egg, bacon, and cheese with hash browns in them. Tasty, mighty
tasty! Lance had waffles with strawberries and bananas. Sigh.
It was a truly enjoyable day with cooler temps and no
sunshine until after lunch time. We went to get chicken feed and just sat
around and visited. Lance said he felt funny not doing chores for me since he
normally has a list of things to do. We TRIED to clip toenails on Sylvia. Nope,
that was not happening. ONE toenail clipped and a big growl later, he decided
it just wasn’t worth getting chewed on to clip her. We probably should have had
him hold her while the old woman clipped. But she still might have chewed on
him. Guess Sylvia will just have to see the vet again.
This weather today has been totally wonderful. It won’t
last, but at least we can remember what autumn feels like. A few more days of
soft rainfall would certainly be welcome as well.
Sent nearly two dozen eggs home with Lance. One carton only
had eleven eggs. Now two more hens have laid eggs for me. They like this cooler
weather just as much as we do. It will be a while before the pullets start
laying, so these six hens will have to keep up with demand. HA!
Do not have to water the flower bed today. Would really
enjoy not doing that for a few more days. Usually just put the nozzle on “mist”
and leave it out over night rather than try to soak the bed by hand. The mist
seems to soak in better than splashing the water everywhere.
Bought some cherries at United the other day that are SO
sweet. Sometimes cherries are almost sour, but these are like candy they are so
sweet! The pickers must have found some good trees in that orchard! Now if only
the peaches had been that good. Miss having Charlie, TX, peaches that were
freestone. But they may not quite be in season just yet. Peaches are different
like that.
Sterling just called and said that his daughter Karen had
arrived from Texas. They are staying in a B n B or airbyn or whatever it is
called. The house is over a hundred years old, and its only drawback is being
too close to the railroad tracks so that a person can hear the trains go by.
Don’t think that would bother me. But then, who would want to wake up to a
train horn?
Saw something on FB the other day that was pretty special.
Someone offered a tiny little frog some water in the lid of a water bottle. No,
it did not drink out of the lid. It got IN the lid! Now that was one hot little
frog! Think that is about how all the critters have been feeling lately. Have a
bottom flower tray out in the side yard in the herb garden platform. Trying to
keep water in it is almost hopeless because it dehydrates so quickly. But the
rabbits and birds know it is there. Yes, that may be why the dogs have to keep
an eye out on the front yard—rabbits and squirrels, ya know.
Really don’t know much. So far, have not been overly
inundated by whams and bangs, but the weekend and the Fourth are not over yet.
Just praying that we don’t get any fires out here. It is wet at the moment, but
that won’t last. Maybe it will rain more and soak the ground and all the dry
grass up good. We will just have to pray for more rain.
Let us pray for those who need to know that they are loved.
This latest generation just does not know their own worth. May God inspire them
and lift them up to meet the challenges of this age.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
