Piddly Jobs.

 Piddly Jobs.

Patty gave me some stuff for cleaning windows that Donny never used—too many fish waiting to be caught out at Arrowhead, don’t ya know. Anyway, part of the stuff had a bottle of something like Windex that could be attached to one’s water hose and used to simply spray the window to clean, turn a little knob to rinse, and another nob to turn it off entirely. It worked well on the north side windows in reach of the water hose. Then had to remove the sprayer bottle. That was fun. Ahem. Had to go get those pump plyers or whatever they are called to get a good grip on the metal part to separate it from the bottle part. Put my normal sprayer back on the hose and turned the water on to a small flood of sprays that would not stop. Had to remove nozzle and looked to see if that little rubber ring had gone somewhere. It had. KNEW some of those rubber rings were in the workshop where they had been placed to keep them safe. Ahem. Safe from whom might be the question. FINALLY found a rubber ring in the junk drawer in the kitchen. But that did not solve the problem. Went to the back room to get some of that Teflon tape that Lewis used to use to keep things from leaking. THAT worked. Keeping the water turned on at the outside wall keeps me from having to step through the water bowls, over the big telephone poles that line the flower beds back there, and step through the loops of the water hose. Patty asked if that did not ruin the hose to leave the water on. So far . . . it has worked to keep me from stepping into and out of the flower bed. It was a piddly job that ended up taking much more time than necessary.

Bought a big gallon jug of stuff called Graze On or something like that. It is not as serious or dangerous as that stuff that causes cancer—the name escapes me at the moment (RoundUp). But it is supposed to prevent weeds from coming up between the stones or wherever. So, the dressed stone sidewalk got thoroughly sprayed in the backyard and the walkway, and some weeds were sprayed in the front yard. Have some three or four more of those stupid Eve’s Necklace trees sprouted up out front. Lance has cut down or dug up several already, but one next to the porch just keeps coming back. Sigh. Maybe tomorrow some white vinegar used in both locations might do the trick to keep them gone. Just piddly things, but they are done.

The mailman brought a package for Thompson for his hips and joint mobility. Have no idea how it tastes, but he seems to like it well enough. Now if they only had those things for little ol’ ladies who are down in their comealongs. And yes, Roger, that stuff called “MoveOn” has had its place around here, but taking it does not really get done. Maybe if it were mixed into some hamburger?

A quick look at what is happening in Texas includes Governor Abbott sending more DPS troops to Austin. Seems Austin has decided to be a “sanctuary” city. The Austin police need help just dealing with the “normal” amount of crime since their funding has been cut, but all the drug dealers, illegal immigrants, and gangs are having a devastating effect on the city of Austin. And somehow the city of Austin has decided to tell a lie about a trooper who unholstered his gun for a traffic stop. Who could really blame him? Doesn’t matter how old the occupants are if they carry guns!

Have no real plans for tomorrow. Maybe vinegar spread on the sidewalks could get done, but silly stuff that takes no real effort sounds about right for the forecast. Just truly thankful that my life can be so simple.

Let’s remember those like Tami Yonts and little Rene Louise who are fighting cancer and tumors. Karen S. and her son Nate need our prayers to deal with the trials they face. Among our many blessings are the ones who will pray for us daily for our lives. May God bless those who hold up others to His light.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
