Cumulative Laziness.
Yep, day after day and one hot one after another makes a
person really think about what just HAS to be done as opposed to what would be
nice to get done. Today has been one of those days that nothing really felt
necessary. Brought a package inside from off the bench on the front porch and
opened the box. Put the resultant case of dog food in the hall and told the
dogs they could have some after they finished all the homemade kind. Honestly
thought that an eyebrow was raised over there on that black dog. Sylvia just
does not care. As long as she is well fed—and treats given often—she really
does not care. However, she did not want any peanut butter on her food today,
thank you very much. Guess the hens will get that bowl.
Earlier today the chickens got an entire cantaloupe. It
looked perfect on the outside, but cut open revealed too soft or mushy for good
eating. Oh well. The critters enjoyed it. That has been one of the nicest
things about having these chickens. They clean up the leftovers or anything
edible for a chicken.
Couldn’t sleep last night and finally gave up and got up. Read
a book until fatigue took over and went back to bed. Got up at 5:45 wide-eyed
and . . . well, not exactly bushy-tailed, but close. We did not have very many
booms and whizzbangs last night, so the dogs were happy enough. Earlier in the
afternoon they both got behind the recliner and lay down together. Think they
were hiding back there. Not sure. Can’t blame them.
Certainly have been a lot of “lookers” over across the
street. Not sure if anyone actually has offered the owners an amount, but
seriously doubt that they will come down on the price much, if at all. They are
pretty determined to control who gets in there next to them just by having the
price and other stipulations pretty well set. Can’t say that it is not a good
idea to be careful.
Took a picture of that beautiful moon last night. It was
huge and glowed across the water of the lake. Golden highlights were spectacular.
Wish Keith Mattson’s expertise with a camera would rub off on me, but know
better than to even compare my grasp of beauty with the kind of pictures he
takes. Some of the pictures folks take just amaze me—and that does not include
those photo shopped visions. Horses on the Salt Flats, the Big Empty (Wyman
Meinzer), the streets of Edinburgh, and just the beauty of Texas—those are some
of the scenes that make me wish for wings and time to watch quietly. Guess we
can all just enjoy the talent of others who can capture these things.
Have thought about Tami Yonts today. Have not seen any
posts from her and hope that all is going well. The same is true of the
granddaughter of Diann Dennis and the son of Karen S. My grand nephew seems to
be doing pretty well. Carol Thonton calls him Jacob the Lion-hearted. That
makes me smile. My niece Becky’s husband lost the drummer with his band a
couple of days ago. Life never really gives us warnings about these things. We
just have to adjust, take a deep breath, and go on.
Sylvia just found a reason to get spooked and nearly choked
herself on the cords to my computer in trying to hide under my desk. Did not
hear any bangs, but she must have heard something. Poor critters!
Let us remember to express our gratitude to our Father in
heaven for the many blessings, but especially for the love He showed us through
the sacrifice of His son. May the Kingdom of Heaven come soon.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
