Wild Ones and Assorted Idiots.
Connie asked me why Patty called me instead of animal control,
but had no good answer for her. Guess Patty knows that animals are appreciated
around here. Anyway, the kitten had bawled all night and kept her awake, but she
was afraid to go down the stairs to see about it. Of course, it was just a
kitten and let me pick it up and bring it home in a towel. But doofless tried
to feed it a few bits of meat, and it got the meat plus a bit of me. So, the
bite bled good, and it was washed and had antibiotic put on it—the bite, not
the kitten. Then asked my doctor if a tetanus shot would be appropriate. Yeah,
that and rabies vaccine!!! So called animal control already and the health
department. Poor little kitten has now been put down and its body sent off to
be tested for rabies. See, the problem with this little one is that it was
really a wildcat. Bobcat kittens look so very pretty, but it did not even occur
to the old woman that this was not just an ordinary kitten. Its eyes were open,
and it was hungry. So, little bits of meat and cleaning its bottom seemed like
the things to do. Deep sigh. Should know by Monday if the rabies shots will be
necessary. And my local Walgreens did not have the tetanus vaccine and the
weary old woman did not feel like driving to Ninth Street to get that done.
The twins came today. One worked on getting out sticker
weeds and one cut up branches, tore up Hanan’s fence, and went to the transfer
station with me. Despise going to that place. Always wonder if a nail will get
in one of my tires. Anyway, we got quite a bit done—well, THEY got quite a bit
done. Had them empty two sacks of feed in a separate barrel. It has no corn in
it. Wish it were possible to keep the freaking ducks and doves out of it!
Maria did all the work yesterday, but my body feels as if
it has scrubbed floors or something of that nature. Just not in a very good
mood either. You will just have to pardon me and my lack of a decent uplifting
post today.
Sterling goes in for hernia repair Tuesday of this next
week. Think Barbara goes in on Wednesday. Let’s pray for the surgeries to go
well and the healing to be complete and quick. Meanwhile, Stilton Jarlsberg
says that his mood is dragging the dumps. Being that low really does mess a
person up. So mental and emotional health is another reason for prayers.
May each of you find joy in life and in each day given to
us. God loves you.
