Temper-A-Ture!
Yep, it is mighty warm. Have three units of AC going—one in
bedroom, one in living room, one in kitchen. About to turn off the kitchen
unit. Just need the one in living room and bedroom to be able to deal with the
heat. It is only 100 degrees, but that is plenty warm. Dread the electric bill.
Sigh
Got a red alert warning last night telling us to expect 80
mph winds. Such fun. Don’t think a drop of rain fell, but we had plenty of
thunder and lightning. Kinda thought some power lines must have gone down in
some places around here. Woke up at one point to find the ceiling fan just
beginning to turn again. And my computer was totally off. Probably should have
just turned over and gone back to sleep, but got up and put on clothes and
brought meds and put them in my bag next to the bed. It’s Texas.
Thought the boys would be here early this morning, but they
went to the gym. Not sure if they will be here tomorrow, but have asked Stephen
to remind them to call. Just would like to get this mess under control. Tall
grass, if dried out, is just like newspaper to burn. And so far, no one has
offered to let their cow, horse, sheep, or kids nibble this stuff.
Posted a note from Barbara. She thinks she is doing well
and might get to come home Saturday. Certainly hope that is the case! She is
such a sweet lady!
Talked to Sterling again. He had to cough yesterday and was
still groaning about it. Understand exactly how he felt. The incision up the
front of my belly was faster to heal than those on my back, but it was nearly
impossible to strain. And laughing was miserable. Remembered Daddy telling Mom
funnies when she had that first big surgery. She told him she would get even
for the jokes. Don’t think she ever did, but she threatened him!
Sylvia keeps dropping her alligator in my lap. Had to get
up and get the box of treats and put one inside for her. It just fell right
out, but it is the idea of that being her treat toy. Such critters. Thompson
said, “Uh, no. Not interested.”
Need to get some twine and tie my trumpet vine up on this
post out front. It just slowly has ooched its way down the post until some of
it is on the ground. The hummingbirds love this stuff. Well, that and honeysuckle.
Have a few flowers around still blooming—including the silly bluebonnet in the
front. Guess it got just enough water (rain) to help it bloom again. The poppies
are almost gone. Sigh
Really don’t know much worth sharing. Think my brain is tired;
at least, my body does not feel very enthusiastic about moving around right
now.
We need to find joy in each day. Sometimes it does take a
little effort to see things in a positive light. Other times the green grass
and the trees are about all it takes to make a person smile. Let us pray for
peace for all nations, but especially for those caught up in wars.
Rest and resolve to show others how to be happy. You are
loved.
