In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle.

In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle.

The hens should not be getting lost, at least. The twins just mowed and weed whacked the place. It looks much better. Going to have to figure out how long it takes between jobs and see if the temperature makes much difference. This afternoon it was 107 degrees! If we get more rain, it will grow twice as fast, of course. But if it is just the heat and no rain, the grass may turn brown again. Such is life.

Jennifer’s youngest came early this morning and surprised me. We went to Pioneer and discovered that they have two new cooks. The food was good even if it took a bit to get to us. Reece thought he was going to cave in before it got to us! It did seem like a long wait. Oh well. Not like we were really going to starve or anything like that.

Have had a headache off and on today from stupid allergies. When the wind is not blowing a gale and making us all sneeze, the heat and pollen just settle in the air and give some of us the feeling that we are breathing under water. Got so tickled when a visitor to our state wanted to know what that stuff was on her car. Think pollen painting could be a new trend.

Gave the dogs some sweet potatoes and some sausage patties that had been in the freezer a bit long. Great way to use up meat that did not really appeal to me. Jennifer said that she had some that she paid good money for that had a brown cast to it. Meant to tell her to haul it down here to make into dog food someday. Or not. Using rice and meat and some veggies is a good foundation for dogs’ food. Well, in my estimation it is good for them.

Only had ten eggs to send home to Ft. Worth today. Had no idea the kid was coming, so there’s that. Loved every minute of it! Surprises like that are special when you know they like you enough to make a special trip—or they are bored enough to want to get out of town! LOL

Barbara got to come home from the hospital. She is doing well but still hurting. Let’s pray that she heals quickly and completely. Was so glad to hear from my brother Sterling that he is doing well. Still not able to mow or jump on a trampoline, but even so, he is up and at it.

Carla Beard managed to cut her hand up pretty well with a hedge trimmer, so when Jenn said she was going to go out and trim the hedge, you know her mom had to say be extra careful! Really not fond of things that make lots of noise and cut anything they touch! Hoping that Carla has not messed up her pickle ball serve! Hmm.

Don’t know as much as one of my silly hens. Cleaning out a few places this coming week if the energy and the mood match at the same time. Need to totally take everything out of the workshop and clean from top to bottom, but it will have to be a week of early stuff. The heat of the day is just too much. At least it is not 120 yet.

Cantaloupe and green stuff. The reason we have summers. And maybe swimming in a pool. Just have to accept the seasons and their drawbacks the same as if they were family members.

Remember to have that attitude of gratitude when you awake each day. Not everyone gets to greet life that way. Rest, refresh yourselves and know: you are loved.
