Expectations versus Reality.

Expectations versus Reality.

When companies like UPS tell people that they can expect to receive their packages by 3 p.m. on Thursday, expect it on Friday—maybe. Yes, the UPS men and women have a lot on their plate. And they know that they can just leave things on the porch at any hour of the day or night maybe. But it really would be nice to know when they are coming—as in which day and morning or afternoon. Oh well. As long as things get here eventually, that is all that matters. Well, mostly.

Went out and wrestled with a water hose that had been loaned to Jerry at one point. Have no idea what was done to it, but it is in more than two pieces with three hoses joined with seemingly impossible to unscrew connections. Will have to ask Donny if he can take them apart. Two of the hoses are mine, but the other part looks like a scavenged mess. Oh well. If even one can be connected to the back faucet without causing problems, that will be enough to take care of watering the hens.

These two dogs just got a couple of “tastes” of some beef. Skirt steak is so very tender—especially from Bill Brown Beef. Keep telling myself that we need to make a trip to the Double B café to try out their midday meal. Maybe when things cool down just a bit. Connie promised to chauffeur for a free meal! Sounds good to me.

Expecting Jim and Sharon tomorrow sometime—or Saturday. Not too sure about exact times and days. They have a class reunion to attend in Vernon or somewhere.

Ran the dust mop over the bedroom and living room floors. Collected enough dog hair to reconstruct a dog or stuff a pillow. Bleah. Would much rather pick cotton or chicken feathers than have dog or horse hair stuffed into a pillow. And yet this is what they used years ago. Hard to imagine, isn’t it? Mother said that her granny raised geese so that the feathers could make pillows for the family. Everything had its purpose back in the day. Saw something that made me think of that today when someone used an IKEA bag to make a backpack. Never have seen any bags by IKEA, but apparently, they are very strong. Great way to recycle or upcycle things.

Cleaned the shower curtain this morning and the bottom of the shower. Forgot that the stuff that cleaned the bottom of the shower would work like bleach and take the color out of the towel being used to wipe it out. Oh well. Spotted towels still work just fine. But taking the tape off the bottom of the shower curtain meant that weights needed to be attached to it to keep the curtain inside the stall. Went to the button box and found four clips that were once used on a man’s suspenders. They should work well enough. If not, well, something else will work that has weight to it. A button box always has interesting and useful things in it. This one was my grandmother Pollard’s box. It is an accumulation of a lifetime or two.

The dogs are not particularly happy about all the strange things happening in the neighborhood. A man down at the end of the street is mowing. Another man is mowing over on N. Church Street, and someone is walking around over there near the abandoned houses. Doesn’t take much to get these dogs bent out of shape. Oh well.

Should not be tired today, but somehow my body is griping at me pretty loudly. Not waking up at 4 a.m. would help, but not sure how to change that situation. Connie says she has been having the same problem. But at least she is happier now that Rebekah is back in WF. She can stop worrying about her and enjoy being with her for meals or whatever. Know she is happier knowing her sister is safe.

Honestly don’t know much of anything tonight. Trying to stay off of FB or even AOL for the most part. A person can really become ill trying to consider the garbage that passes for common sense in this world. My AOL has the Republican Daily on it, and some of that stuff is interesting and sharable. Know for a fact that my children would not agree with any of it, but found it interesting that they quoted an article by the Washington Post that was definitely not its usual slanted version of truth. Who knows! Maybe someone has discovered that all the lies can’t be taken for truth when they come out of D.C.!

Going to get offline and just appreciate my critters. Need more time to just relax and feel calm. We know that our lives are not ours to determine completely, but we have to try to have a positive outlook. Let us appreciate what our Father in Heaven has given us this day. Rest and enjoy life, my friends. You are loved.
