Just a Few Little Thoughts.
Sometimes when folks worry about things over which they
have no control, it can help to get things in perspective if they can see that
no matter what they say or do, it will not change other people or the way they
think about things. Just spoke with my neighbor, and she just needed a couple
of reassuring thoughts before we giggled about how to control the snakes in my
hen house or in her kitchen. Yes, we both despise snakes that come wiggling
into places they don’t belong. Then we were reminded that no matter how we miss
someone or need their affirmations of love, we can’t replace them. We just have
to live one day at a time, one step at a time. It is not easy. Never has been
for anyone else, either. Time, chance, and circumstance come to all. And today
Michelle came to visit and reminded me just how many of us old widow women are
in this world today. We each have a place to live and a lonely space in our
lives. But we have to fill the spaces and make our lives as useful to ourselves
and others as we can. Sometimes it is just really hard to feel very useful. And
maybe it is enough to just BE, at least some days. We can listen to the birds
sing, watch the silly dogs play, and appreciate the time we have on our hands.
It is much easier on us to be filled with gratitude than it is to feel lonesome
and semi-lost. Those are just my thoughts tonight. My wishes for you are that
you will all find rest and peace. You are loved. May the blessings of God be
with you.
