Dust and Dirt.

 Dust and Dirt.

Worked on taking everything out of the big bookcase in the little bathroom/hall. As much as was removed, it would seem as if there should be more room for other stuff. But somehow it does not seem like any more room showed up. Well, maybe the top shelf is open now and could accommodate a bunch of stuff. Just can’t make up my mind about what to put back up there. Took out all the CDs and stuff that could be given away or whatever. Have to talk to Michelle Malay about some books that her friend would want now. Not sure if my eyesight is not as good as it once was or if the Kindle and its light has pretty well spoiled me from reading anything that is not lit up from underneath.

Found a couple of DVDs up there that need to be opened and watched. Don’t think this new computer has a DVD thing on it, and guess who forgot how to use the thing under the TV. Oh well. One of the children will be here sometime this month. One DVD says Rachel on it. Not sure what that means. Another one says John’s tribute. Another one says Hanan. Know that one is not his skydiving video, but have no idea what it is. Oh well.

The dogs have followed me around the house and everywhere today. They are the best dogs in the entire world in my estimation. Such loving critters! Got tickled at Thompson today. He went under the deck and found himself an egg, brought it out and set it on the grass, booped it with his nose to break the shell, ate all the egg stuff, and then he ate the shell! Oh well. Would not want to use an egg from under there anyway since its age might be older than a good one.

Despite getting about a quarter of an inch of rain last night, the Jerusalem artichokes were droopy. So now the flowers are watered. Did forget the Jasmine vine that Donny brought to me, but maybe it will be ok. It actually looks as if it might live. The begonias from Sutherlands are not pretty by any means, but they may live anyway. THINK there is purslane growing all over the front flower bed, but it could be something else—poppies or something. Know for sure that some Bluebonnet seeds are making plants in there. Recognized them right away. They might even have time to grow up and bloom before winter comes along. Stranger things have happened.

Donny got the rest of the hill mowed today. Things up here really look nice. He weed eats things to the ground and leaves plenty of space for the grass to have to cover again. But today yours truly ordered some seeds to plant the entire front yard instead of having grass all over it. One of the seed types is creeping thyme. It is supposed to crowd out grass. If it sprouts and comes up good, it will be a miracle. But it calls for dry, well-drained soil. That is definitely this front yard! The irises all do well, but the danged Bermuda grass grows up in them and looks tacky. Still, the irises are so pretty in the spring. Had to move the ones out back to the front yard because the hens were eating them back when we had nothing green for them to graze on.

Just had to clean my glasses with some spray and a cloth the optometrist office gave me. Not sure where to get more of this spray stuff. This bottle says RadioShack! Does that date me or just the bottle of spray?

Sylvia brought me a tennis ball. Do you suppose someone wants to play? She is my extra-long lap dog, but she really loves to play ball. Can remember when Thompson used to love to play ball, too. Think he is getting a wee bit old for that type of play in any kind of heat. But then, Sylvia wanted to play here in the living room!

Talking to Jenn today about Gary and his big mower. He kept thinking that something was wrong with it because he kept seeing “tracks” in the yard. She suggested that he change directions when he mowed. Guess what! That did the trick. Remember that Lewis said that yards had to have a variation in the direction every so often or they would look like they had been mowed with a lopsided mower. Don’t know if Jenn remembered that or if she just used common sense. Anyway, Gary is now happy with his mower.

Bought some goat soap recently and love the way it makes my hair feel. However, something is making my hands break out big time. Not sure what is causing the rash—hens, soap, weeds, medication, or whatever. It would be my luck that it would be the one medication that seems to be doing some good. Yes, chicken dander is one of the things that causes me problems, but not picking up a hen is not a problem. Will just wait until all the eggs are laid before going out there. Not sure about the chicken feed itself, but washing my hands has become second nature after coming back in the house anyway. Ah, and then there is the dust from cleaning the first book case! Had not thought about that. Maybe the rash will clear up this next week. Here’s hoping.

My grand-nephew has been back to the hospital. Jacob has juvenile scleroderma, and the doctors don’t always know what is wrong when he has excessive pain. This time it was swelling and pain in his feet. His great-granddad had arthritis in his feet from the time he was a boy, but he still served in the military during WWII. Jacob may have inherited some problems along those lines, but he still needs our prayers. Well, and pray for his parents, too. It is so hard to watch one’s child hurt.

Those in the Pacific Northwest are having to deal with horrible heat. They need our prayers as well. No matter what causes extremes in the weather, no one is immune to the pain it can cause.

Ok, she let me know that it is time to play ball! Sitting here feeling grateful to God for these critters. Even feeling down is not as bad when a dog tells a person it is time to play! Praise God for joy!

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
