Fog?
So, from the southeast—not the southwest where weather normally
comes from—a cloud came and lay down all over the highway, the State Hospital,
and this side of the lake. It was really weird. It was hard to see through or
into it, and it made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Then, just as suddenly as
it wrapped up the land, it disappeared again. Go figure. Off and on, it seemed
to drip rain or shower little spurts of water before the sun ran it all off. Knew
weather was going to be strange this year, but had no idea we could have
semi-fog like that. Have never seen it happen before.
Have not accomplished squat today. Well, that is not
entirely true. Made a squash casserole that Connie said sounded more like a
frittata. Whatever, it tasted good. Also cooked a flank steak from Bill Brown
Beef. Mighty tasty. Have not had much appetite lately, but have been drinking
more than before—water, Bai, G2, and juice, nothing else.
Had planned to clean out the bookcase in the little bathroom
off of Hanan’s room this morning. Did not even touch that bookcase! Best laid
plans, and all of that. Not sure those plans were laid very well at all. Oh
well. Maybe later this week. Just started and finished a book rather than do
much of anything. Got the sheets washed, folded, put away, and another load of
laundry washed and dried. Still thinking about folding it . . . thinking.
The yard looks pretty good today. Getting that grass mowed
makes a great big difference. It really has to be done every week to keep it at
a decent length or it will get too tall. If the heat hits it later this month,
it might not grow so fast, but right now it is growing like a teenager on Miracle
Gro. The humidity may make the rest of us drag, but not the grass. Just hope
the new flowers can deal with the heat that is coming up on us. Can’t just
leave the water hose lying across the walkway, but it will soon have to be
watered every day to help the coleus and sweet potato vines—not to mention the
angel wing begonias and hibiscus. Anyway, have not tried growing these things
out front before, so we will see how things go.
Ordered a couch cover for this eight-foot couch. Jenn
suggested putting some of the heavy material UNDER the new cover to keep it
from getting torn. Not sure that will help, but have to try something. These
dogs can mess it up faster than yours truly can straighten out the blankets to cover
its back. Yes, they are spoiled rotten. But who else would live with me? Well,
besides the hens. And at least one dog talks to me about squirrels while the
other one says rabbits stink! Also ordered some different dog food and allergy
tablets for the dogs. STILL trying to get them to stop itching! This has got to
be a seasonal thing, but can’t figure out how to take care of the problem.
Have been reading what other folks are saying about neurosurgeons
and hospitals in the Mansfield and Arlington areas. It would be so much simpler
to have things done here, but want to be sure that what we have here is for the
best and that my insurance will work here. Sometimes other people’s opinions
really do tell us something important when it comes to health issues. If YOU
have had back surgery and did well—or not—would like to know what you think.
Actually, would rather just let chiropractic adjustments take care of the
problems!
The “thunder shirts” that Connie got for my dogs seem to be
helping them with the fireworks and thunder. Both dogs have been relatively
calm at night when the fireworks start shaking the house! Now if they made
thunder shirts for old women!
Tara Ross is a historian, lawyer, mother, and all-round
interesting writer, but she has increasingly begun to have trouble with FB
trying to kick her off their platform. So today was the day yours truly signed
up for a platform called Gab. Hoping to continue with FB, but if they kick her
and her work off, then my blog will be going somewhere else. As it is, Common Sense
&Happiness is available on Blogger under Mesquite Country. If you lose me,
look there. Or not. It might not be of interest to those who are totally hooked
on FB. And MeWe seems a little difficult for me to use. Eventually, all the
platforms will suffer from stress when judgmental individuals start claiming
that anyone who feels love for nation, God, or history have no right to their
opinions. Read something today about the woman who was kicked out of the Olympics
for having some sort of cannabis element in her blood work. Understand that the
Olympics have their rules that may not allow anyone to use cannabis in any
form, but since it has been a very definite help for me to use the CBD oil
gummies for pain, it makes me angry that others are not allowed to use it, too.
Yet some “dude” has testosterone out the wahzoo and competes against women—as a
woman. Shaking my head here. Now male hormones would do nothing for my pain,
but the CBD oil helps all kinds of problems for me. Not attempting to get “high”
or otherwise do stupid things, but would rather not take enough ibuprofen to
kill a horse either. At least the CBD oil is natural.
Guess the wind getting up and the clouds gathering might
indicate another change in the weather, so meanwhile, the flowers need water.
That might just be a job for wonder-wander woman.
May you each be aware tonight that our freedom came from
His hands. He gave us the men and women to fight our battles, but we still need
to pray for peace.
Rest well and find joy in your lives. You are loved.
