Happiness with a Clean House!

 Happiness with a Clean House!

Loren came today and cleaned my house. LOVE the way it smells when she is finished, not to mention how nice it is to walk barefoot over clean floors! When a bedspread was thrown on the couch this morning, it felt good to look at all one color despite the fact that the dogs will soon have it covered in hair. Washed those covers earlier and have them ready to put away, but at least the floor was ready to clean when Loren got here. She likes my dogs—and vice versa. SO glad she does not mind my critters. But then, she also likes the eggs sent home with her this afternoon. She said her grandmother made “breakfast” for their supper last time she got eggs. Apparently, Grandmother appreciates fresh eggs, too.

My day’s work was almost finished by 8:30 this morning. And yes, my body felt it completely! Took Patty’s trash bin back down to her place after mine was brought back across the road. Watered down the front flower bed in hopes of having the ground soft enough to pull crab grass in the morning. Also, watered the Jerusalem artichokes to keep them alive. Then Cari Guidry’s mom brought some veggies—including okra, cantaloupe, and an ice box melon. Those are good reasons for this summer heat! Spring has its good stuff, too, but let me tell you that it does not pay to buy Aunt Nellie’s pickled beets. Bleah. Just plain pickled beets are MUCH better. Aunt Nellie’s have almost a sugary gravy around them. Not very good at all. But then, to each his own.

Still have three hens that are broody. They keep getting placed in the dog’s pool, but it has not made enough difference to persuade them to change their minds. Not sure exactly what it is going to take. But my cousin in North Carolina said that her daughter-in-law wants to have chickens at their new home since they have a couple of acres on which to let them roam. Shaking my head here. She has no idea what it takes to keep them safe or what to do about them jumping fences. And they have raccoons around them. Those creatures are just about worse than coyotes. Guess she will figure it out.

Still watching Murdoch Mysteries. Binging on movies! Such fun. Reading a book that is super silly the rest of the time: We Have Lost the President. It represents London as the headquarters of a government that has one president and numerous vice-presidents. Yep, about as dingy as it can get, except they have no internet in this new world order. Imagine THAT if you are old enough! Giggling. Can actually remember when the library was the best place to find information—well, and the party line. Someday it may be that way again. Just hope kids learn to read and learn the old-fashioned way. Or not. Some things might not even be worth learning. That is how it felt when they introduced us to algebra. Geometry made sense. Algebra was like playing dominoes and remembering how many of each suit were still available.

Lance let me know today that he was revamping an i-Phone for me. Here’s hoping it is as simple to use as he suggests. Discovered this morning that yours truly had turned the sound off on my current phone again. HOW it happens is not exactly a mystery—my fat fingers hold in the wrong places or something. It is still irritating. Just missing calls can be a problem. Sterling called the other evening and left a voice message. They still have not had their new cabinets installed, so they can’t really use their new kitchen. But he got my phone call, so at least he knows how to answer a phone and hear it ring! Shaking my head here. Technology and an old woman!

About as dumb as a rock tonight. Plan to go to Tractor Supply again tomorrow. Such fun. And the grass chute for my mower came. It will probably work, but it does not look as long as the right one. Oh well. Life goes on.

May each of you arise each morning with a grateful heart to see what God has in store for you. Please pray for the teachers and students who are headed back to school. Let us show kindness wherever we are in life.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
