Work of Just Little Jobs?

 Work or Just Little Jobs?

Do most women consider mopping and vacuuming as just little jobs that have to be done, or are housekeeping chores such as those really work? People get paid to clean house when it includes mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and any other type of cleaning, so maybe it is work when one does it for someone else. Around here, these things are chores. And sometimes the little chores get done twice after the coffee pot gets dropped in the kitchen floor. At least the rugs had already been taken outside to be flopped in the wind to remove most of the dust. The living room has now been vacuumed once per day for the last two days as well. Such fun! The most tiring job around here is making dog food from scratch, and, Dear Hearts, it takes some stirring, chopping, cooking, and sometimes getting my hands in there up to my wrists to mix the stuff thoroughly! But the payment is so comforting. Both dogs are feeling good and looking good.

Did you know that Gatorade does not contain caffeine? Not many things we drink here in Texas do not contain caffeine. Our tea, coffee, cocoa, hot chocolate, or even Café d’Vita have caffeine in them. Therefore, if you want something to start the day other than Coke or Dr Pepper, get out a bottle of Gatorade. Or have a bottle of water. But try not to growl at anyone just because YOU have not had your hit of go juice for the day!

Got another check from United Regional today. Again, no explanation whatsoever. Think this is going to be the year that yours truly takes a page from Lewis’ book on paying medical bills. When the insurance gets through paying their part, then we will ask just how much the hospital will take to consider the bill paid in full. That is the way Lewis did it, and quite often it was considerably less than the bill we received. He was sharp that way. The other option is to tell them that they will get paid about $5 to $10 per month until the bill is paid. Talk about backing up! Laughing out loud! This was how we decided to treat Clinics of North Texas one year. They decided to cancel the bill for Mom and Dad. It may have helped that Lewis knew the parent of the billing person, but couldn’t say for sure. This is the way he told Lewis to do it anyway. He also was the one who told him not to pay up front.

Saw Dr. Desire today and will spend a couple of days in his office next week to see if there is actually one of those organs inside that works to circulate the spit and fire in the old woman. Have not had a lava eruption in years, so perhaps nothing will explode for a while.

Oldest grandson has his 25th birthday this Friday. The family down there—at least his Nana and parents and maybe his brother—will go out to eat somewhere nice. They make a big deal out of birthdays, which really does make the kids feel special. Can remember Mom and Grandmother Pollard doing kid parties for us when we were pretty young. Some of the women in the Route 66 Group were at those parties. Donna (Fuhrman) Reeves and Paula (Holland) Swenson were the only two that come to memory now. Funny how we think we will remember everything when we are young and then can’t remember what dirt looks like later in life.

Talked to a woman this afternoon who was one of Hanan’s friends. Vicky Valentine called herself his “other mother.” When he got knocked out and burned so badly, she went to the hospital that night. He was NOT a good patient. His thing was cigarettes and wanting up to walk around. Patience was not his flavor of the month, year, or even day. Being ADHD is not for the faint of heart. Anyway, Vicky will come over sometime tomorrow to pick up eggs. She has to have someone to stay with her husband for her to get out of the house. And she has a cold and can’t go in for chemo tomorrow, so she can’t even sit on the porch and visit. Yours truly does NOT need a cold.

The young lady who was supposed to bring our beef to the house today was ill and could not come, so tomorrow will be beef day—probably. These colds and things always give me the willies now with all this garbage going around. And don’t any of us dare to read the numbers of folks who are no longer with us because of the virus either! Sad, just sad. The world may be over-populated, but this is a heck of a way to reduce the numbers.

Science and those who practice learning more about the ocean and even bugs have discovered so many different ways of producing foods that can sustain our world, but perhaps not on the scale we need it right now. Instead, we see nations of starving people in camps because they have been run out of one country or another due to religious or some kind of ethnic disputes and differences. Man’s inhumanity to man has not lessened in the least. We are still barbaric in our approach to life whether it is our fellow human beings or that of animals who are also sentient beings. Did you know that a goldfish can be trained? Who is to say that they don’t have feelings and self-awareness? Ah, in another life perhaps science would have been my calling. Not sure what it has been in this life, but know that words and loving critters has been a big part of what makes me tick.

Please remember to pray for those who are alone in this world. Some of us can be surrounded by others and still feel alone, so think about those who need the connections to help them realize their self-worth. We need peace in this old world, and we know that only the great Prince of Peace will bring that to us. Let us pray for peace.

Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
