Will “Wondering” Never Cease?
We have all experienced some strange things in our lives.
But in the past few years, some things have simply been mind-boggling. Looking
for a Christian home school community, a friend asked whether or not a woman’s
children were boys or girls only to be told that they are “non-binary.” Told my
brother that identifying as a ’57 Chevy means that living in the garage is
where they will find me! Our society is plum idiotic! Dear Hearts, if a person
gets a headache trying to figure things out, just pretend that it is normal to
have headaches and to be somewhat bewildered by what is going on around us.
Went out to check the rain gauge earlier today and found a
bug and about a quarter inch of moisture in there. Since then, some rain has
hit the windows loudly enough to be heard. We need the rain. The dogs don’t
like thunder, but so far, they have not crawled under the bed. Thought Sylvia
was going to get under my pillow during all the thunder and lightning last
night, but she finally settled down and just “touched” me with her feet. Kinda
understand how she feels about those loud noises. Sometimes the stupidity in the
world today makes me feel like hiding under a pillow—and would do about as much
good!
Sent a birthday present to one of the grandsons that was
supposed to be delivered this afternoon between 6:30 and 9. Now if those are
not long hours for delivery! Oh well. Grayson went up and looked in the mailbox
for me. He is such a sweetheart. He really did not want to, but did anyway.
These kids make life worth living.
Dr. Blackwell stopped by to visit this afternoon and took
eggs home with her. Our conversation made me think about a few things that
happened back when the old woman went to school. It is hard to be a young
person and not have a special friend. In school, most of the girls had ONE
special friend. Not me. Being friendly was not a problem, but being specific
friends means a lot to girls—maybe boys, too. Life is never as uncomplicated as
we might think it is.
You know, life is so complicated that we think we understand
so much until we look right around the corner in our own neighborhood to see
how weird things can get. Kids can be so mean; countries can be so ruthless;
politicians are so ignorant; and “normal” people have no clue what is going on
in other parts of the world. Maybe it is just as well. All we can really do is
show our own children how to be kind, how to stand up for themselves, and how
to ignore certain stupidities. And by the way, if someone wants to be offended
because the old woman identifies as a chicken person, a dog person, a reader, a
library person, a homemaker, a mean old woman—tough stuff, cream puff.
Finally, God made promises. Those promises may not mean the
same thing to three different people, but what those promises mean to me are
just as real as what they mean to you. HE is the one who determines our real
meaning in life.
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
