Routine Maintenance.

 Routine Maintenance.

It occurred to me the last time my hair was cut that it was so very easy to care for, wash, ignore, and sleep on. That is why Amber Poirot at Spa Bella had the opportunity to take an entire little gray animal off the top of my head this afternoon. She did a good job and did not even let the critter crawl back up my legs! May have tracked a bit of it out the front door, but think most of it would have been swept up and tossed into their vacuum can. Oh! Can we say cooler and calmer!?

Lance sent more mountain/ocean pictures today and some of Skagway. Think that is the town where we went and rode a small gauge train up into the mountains. The year we were there, they were having a heat wave! Lance said it was in the low 40s there this morning and foggy. Here we sat with perspiration running down our backs and off of our faces, and he and Tracy were wearing jackets! Sigh.

Tomorrow the Faith Resale store is supposed to send someone to get this enormous couch out of my living room. Meanwhile, two dog beds have been ordered and should get here in a few days. Think maybe just a rocking chair or something like that will be the only addition to this room. It just feels too crowded.

Having breakfast for din/upper tonight. Have to eat something before taking this stupid antibiotic, so like it or not, solid food is required. The dogs get two real meals a day, so maybe the old woman should begin to bark twice a day. That should keep all the kittens out of the yard, huh?

Did not go to Sutherlands as planned today to get a bottle of 10W40 oil for the mower. Found the instruction book last night and read part of it. Some people know what they mean when the instructions say to turn a certain gadget four turns clockwise. Now the direction of clockwise is not a problem. And even finding the little black hose for draining the oil has happened. But putting the tip of the nozzle in the black hose? What nozzle? Oh well. Still have to find the air filters, too. Think one of those things is made of a paper type stuff. Great big deep breath.

The boys are bringing their equipment to mow tomorrow. Will have to remember to show Caleb what a Jerusalem artichoke plant looks like. Really would like to let them grow this year. Last year they grew, but they never bloomed. Too dry.

Just talked to my sister-in-law Jacqui. She brought Sterling home this afternoon and told him he had to behave himself. He is on pain meds, of course, so maybe she can crack a whip and keep him in line! The doctor was able to fix him laparoscopically. It won’t take as long to heal this way. Getting your gut opened up the front is not any fun whatsoever! But then, imagine what ol’ Roger Thonton had done with his entire chest opened up for heart surgery. Know for sure that it took a long time for Lewis to get back to feeling decent after that mess. But all things considered, isn’t it wonderful that doctors can do so much for us to help us keep on going!

Washed my turquoise sneakers yesterday and need to relace them. They are so very comfortable when they are on, but it takes patience and maneuvering to GET them on. The left leg is not a problem, but for some reason it bothers me to get my right foot up to my left knee. Is that silly or what? Getting old is definitely a privilege, but it is not for sissies!

Not that we need queens and kings in this world necessarily, but it has been a privilege to see Queen Elizabeth celebrate her 70th year on the throne of Britain. Seems a memory comes to me that a promise was made that there would never cease to be a king (a family member) on the throne of David. It’s been too long since that scripture has been in my mind, but remember that God never makes a promise that He does not keep. Pretty reassuring, huh.

No matter what happens in this world, we have choices to make. Let us pray that those choices will always be in accordance with the will of God. We must practice lovingkindness. Like walking, it is a learned skill.

Rest well and rejoice in the seasons. You are loved.
