Memories of Hamilton Pool and Grotto.

This day has been fairly warm, at least after lunch. The grass was still a bit too wet for weed eating, but it still got done--all around the outside of the east lots. Then after the dew dried up some, the zero turn mower took most of the higher grasses out inside the long lots. Didn't bother to mow the top third since the hens pretty well have it clipped. Different kinds of grass get eaten, and the lower lot has some strange looking long stemmed stuff in it. Not sure if it is Kline grass or not, but it grows tall and bushy. Would much prefer to have dandelions out there!

This new computer has been giving me pretty pictures of this and that, but decided to use a picture of Hamilton Pool Grotto for my lock screen. Carla Beard can tell you that even though the weather had been hot and dry too long, it was still a very pleasant place to visit. In fact, it would have been a great place to take a swim! Of course, the entire pool area is monitored by the Texas Wildlife Department now. Certain kinds of trees, bushes, and orchids grow there and no where else in Texas. Anyway, it was a pleasant trip to the Hill Country and to Enchanted Rock back then. Have since read more about the history of that area. The Indians knew where to go for good camping and hunting. It's hard to imagine all that part of the country without any roads. But then, they only got rural electric after President Johnson got old enough to have a voice!

Think maybe Jennifer and Gary are coming up next weekend. Looking forward to their visit. May wait until Gary comes to transfer the stuff from my old laptop to the new computer. Give him something to do, ya know. Mischievous grin.

Did not know that all the AVG virus stuff has a home page for a person who has any of their products. That made it SO easy to download to this computer. Of course, it may be so tied up in anti-virus stuff that even Solitaire is iffy. [Joking!]

When trying to get to Mesquite Country on blogger, it let me go back to some years ago when Mesquite Country was first begun. Somehow maybe Gary can show me how to combine the two accounts--or maybe yours truly will figure it out. Anyway, not sure if they even need to be re-read before letting them out for this current blog. We will see.

The bird for Saturday and Sunday was a mealy parrot from the Amazonian basin. Not a particularly pretty bird, but deep green and different. Not likely to see any in Texas, however. That's ok. Most parrots are fruit eaters and would take out an entire peach orchard unless someone took them out first. Kinda like crows in a corn field, but peaches are much more expensive.

My neighbor was telling me about how his mother could do chiropractic maneuvers on his dad after he got his back messed up. Need to get busy and call that chiropractor that Donna Reeve's daughter goes to.

Saw on FB that the latest grandchild of Debra Jones has decided to make an earlier entrance into this ol' world than the doctor had planned. They were going to induce on Tuesday. Hope by now both mom and baby are doing well. Having a first child at 41 is just a bit risky for both mom and babe.

Reading a book about a young woman whose dad is part of the mob. Her boyfriend's father is also a mob person. It reminded me that Butch O'Hare's father was bookkeeper for Al Capone. That is the reason that the father wanted his son to succeed in life that had nothing to do with mob life. Sure enough, Butch was a hero in WWII. Ever hear of O'Hare Airport?

Don't know much to share with you this afternoon. Hoping the chance of rain from Wednesday through Saturday actually brings us some rain. Watered out front this morning. Doesn't take long to use up quite a bit of water. Guess the old soaker hose could be brought out if worse comes to pass. The city is proud of their water. But have no gutters for collecting rain. Probably just as well. Gutters collect leaves and dirt and assorted stuff. And who would get up there and clean them out? Nope. Just continue to water with a hose. sigh

May you all rest well this evening and thank our heavenly Father for all the many blessings. You are loved.
