Crazy Busy or Crazy AND Busy?
Cleaned some things up in my closet while looking for some
curtains that came to my memory. Think that they may have been given away.
ANYhow, ordered some long curtains to go in the big bathroom and put a longer
curtain on the window on the east side of the room. My hope is that the longer
curtains will keep some of the cold air out. May get a small rug later, but that
thought is for another day. DID, however, order a boot cleaner brush thingy
from Walmart. It fastens to the deck floor outside so that an old woman can
hold on to the railing around the deck and clean my shoes of hen shtuff before
going inside. Can’t imagine how farmers’ wives used to keep their floors clean!
And if she had a houseful of young’uns, she was set to sweep every day at least
twice a day! Milking time, ya know!
Then decided to use the hardware outside that used to keep
curtains up out on the deck. Before the crepe myrtle and dwarf plum were
planted, the west sun just about baked the deck every afternoon. Now it is
fairly decent even when the wind is hot. Doesn’t take much for a tree to prove
its value!
Have not raked up the pieces of plastic from all over the
middle coop floor. Boy! That hail did a number on that top! No wonder—even not
considering the NOISE—that the hens could not stay on that roost! The holes show
that they would have been hit pretty hard had they stayed on that roost. Poor
critters! Eventually the work will begin on getting them to stay in the front
coop. Soon, but not tonight. Maybe next week or so. Some folks just get awfully
lazy.
Saw on FB that Stephen is coming home tomorrow. Then, he
said, the real work will come with hard physical therapy. Do not envy any trips
to work on core or any other kind of strength! Did not really feel that it was
useful to me, but maybe that was because my attitude was not great. Figures.
Fed the last of the “homemade” dog food this morning and either
the Post Office or one of the services delivered both dry food and 24 cans of
wet food. Thompson just came over to ask for a treat. My dogs are not the least
bit spoiled!
Went out and cleaned the water bowls for the hens this
morning and put the big bowl on the shelf where the girls could reach it but
not get it nasty. Only cows, pigs, and children are as messy as these hens!
Made a kind of salad out of bell peppers, mushrooms, and
one avocado. With a coating of Italian dressing, that was not bad at all. Also
spent some time rearranging stuff in my “pantry.” Found another container of Yuban
that had worked its way to the back of the shelf. SO happy to see that. Coffee
is getting just a wee bit pricey. But what else is new. Actually, the order for
the curtains and stuff from Walmart made me fairly happy. It is not like Target
has this stuff—or does it? You know, some of us might be wise to look around,
but Target was the source of the only time my credit card information was abused.
Once bit, ya know.
Have another book started. Ohhh! It has been good so far.
And it has made me laugh a couple of times. It contains the dialogue from a
couple of snarky teenagers. Oh, memories! Smiling and laughing. Lewis did not
really put up with snarky or otherwise disrespectful remarks. But you KNOW that
is how teens think! Sometimes they think that they are grown before they have a
clue.
Oh dear. A S-Q-U-I-R-R-E-L is outside. Nope, it has been
seen now! It will soon be shaken to pieces in the minds of at least two dogs!
But we know just how they feel—even if our enemies do not include anything any
more likely to cause us trouble than a flat tire or a really deep pot hole!
Still not looking for news anywhere since truth(?) and the
media don’t exactly prove enlightening or encouraging. We know that eventually
things will work out in God’s plan, so meanwhile we can do our best to be kind and
loving toward others. We can thank God each day for the blessings of life and His
mercy. We can ask for healing—for all.
Rest and Be Grateful. You are loved.
